We are a self support group and registered charity for heart patients in the Borough of Rochdale

As many of you are aware and for those of you that do not, I had heart surgery in October of last year, resulting in me having two stents fitted which, at the time was a frightening experience for myself and my family.
So on the 1st Anniversary of this operation My son and I have decided to take the plunge and compete in the Great North Run (walk) which is a 13.1 miles circuit which again is a challenging and scary experience to me as I have never done anything like this before.
I will be doing this in aide of a Charity which is called Heart Beat. This is a charity that aids the recovery of heart patients in the Rochdale area and is the only stand alone charity in this area that I was made aware off.
.
So in a nutshell this will give me the opportunity to help those in a similar situation to myself your contributions however large or small will be greatly received by the charity and by far more appreciated by me.
Please could you send all donations in the form of a cheque payable to ‘Heartbeat’
And send FAO Phil Butterworth, 17 Gorse Bank, Bury, Lancashire, BL9 7NN

Rochdale Heartbeat was formed in September 1988.
It is a self-help group with registered charity status based at Calaghan House.
Heartbeat is open to all who have suffered a heart attack, had surgery or heart disease and encourages patients to help themselves in their recovery. This is achieved by a programme of rehabilitation, including supervised exercise, to help patients return to a normal lifestyle as soon as possible.
Members of Heartbeat visit patients whilst in hospital recovering from their illness to start the process of helping them to regain their confidence. The patient’s family is encouraged to take part in this programme as experience shows that the family has an important role to play in this recovery.
Health education, not only of the victims of heart disease, but of the general public is a further area of activity covered by Heartbeat.
It’s members have taken part in several public events.
Heartbeat relies on public support to finance these objectives and it’s Charitable Fund, which since it’s inception has provided much needed equipment for the Coronary Care Unit, Cardiac Catheter Lab & Physiotherapy Dept. at our local Hospitals.

Your support is greatly appreciated
Thank you
